Reliant Medical Group and Southboro Medical Group to Merge

Oct 8, 2014 / Media Coverage / News

After announcing in August our intentions to pursue a merger, Reliant Medical Group and Southboro Medical Group have officially agreed to move forward with the merger now that both of our organizations have completed our respective approval processes. Together, we will comprise more than 2,500 employees, including 300 physicians and hundreds of other healthcare professionals, serving approximately 300,000 patients throughout the Central Massachusetts and MetroWest regions.

Our two medical groups, both of which are also in the process of withdrawing from Atrius Health, already have experience partnering with each other. Earlier this year, we opened a new medical office at Southboro’s 24 Newton Street medical center in Southboro, Mass. The suite houses specialty services, including orthopedics, urology, neurology, and general surgery to serve patients referred by Southboro Medical Group’s primary care providers. In addition, Southboro currently sends a specialty physician to a Reliant site to serve patients.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will work collaboratively to finalize details of the merger with the intention of becoming one organization as of January 1, 2015. Care for the patients of each organization will be uninterrupted by the merger, and there are currently no plans to change the name of either organization.
