Medical Mythbuster: Is It Dangerous to Exercise in Cold Weather?

Sorry, the cold weather shouldn’t hold you off from a brisk walk or a jog. Exercise in the cold weather is fine for the vast majority of us. However, if you have exercise-induced asthma, the cold air could cause some problems. So be sure to check with your doctor if you experience shortness of breath or other problems exercising in cold air.

Question is “how cold?” My experience is: down to 10 F. or so, you just need to stay warm. Down to about -10F, cold is more serious and you need to protect skin, etc. When you get down to about -40, everything changes, it’s more dangerous, and you need to be very careful. Perhaps a medical analysis of various degrees of cold weather would be helpful.
