Preventing Obesity with the 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Program

Reliant Medical Group and the Reliant Foundation are helping overweight kids and their families realize how healthy eating and exercise can make a difference with the 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! program.

5 – Five fruits and vegetables per day
2 – No more than two hours of recreational screen time per day
1 – One hour of physical activity each day
0 – No sugary drinks

Reliant pediatricians work closely with Reliant dietitians and fitness experts at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts to assist children in this nationally recognized program. The Let’s Go! program shows children and their parents fun ways to exercise as well as how to avoid junk food and improve their overall diet. Talk to your child’s pediatrician if you would like to learn more about the Let’s Go! program.

Use These 5-2-1-0 Tips to be Healthy:

  • Eat 5 total fruits and veggies each day
  • Do 10 jumping jacks in the morning and 10 at night
  • Try a new fruit or veggie whenever you can
  • Have 3 servings of low-fat dairy foods each day
  • Have a dance party – alone, with a friend or as a family
  • Read the food label before you eat your snack
  • Make ½ of your dinner plate filled with veggies
  • Eat a snack with more than 3 grams of fiber
  • Go for a family walk
