Medicare Open Enrollment for 2018 started on October 15th and runs through December 7th. During this time period most seniors have the option of making changes to their Medicare plan, including prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D). Remember that each year there may be some changes to these plans offered by Medicare and your insurance company. So even if you are happy with the coverage you have, it’s the ideal time to review your options. When insurance companies make changes to their plans, they typically send out an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) letter around September. Keep in mind that most people are only allowed to make a change to their Medicare Plans during the Open Enrollment period that occurs each fall.
If you are under 65 years of age and haven’t joined Medicare yet, remember that you are eligible to join during the seven-month period that begins three months before the month you turn 65. (There may also be other periods you can join Medicare.) To learn more about Medicare and all the coverage choices, visit the official Medicare website at Medicare.gov. Your insurance company can also help you on the specifics of your Medicare coverage. You can view all of the Medicare plans accepted at Reliant Medical Group here.
