Abigail chose to become a licensed social worker because she wanted to educate people on mental health symptoms and diagnoses. “My belief is that mental health needs to be understood and normalized because everyone is affected by it in some way,” she explains. “I want to help patients see that their symptoms don’t have to limit a person from achieving a happy life full of potential.”
In her work, Abigail likes to use a person-centered approach to care. “I use a variety of interventions and techniques to make a treatment that is tailored to a client,” she explains. “I always value holistic practices to focus on the mind-body connection to help clients understand the connection between our mental and physical health,” she explains.
One of Abigail’s specializations is helping patients overcome prior trauma. “I have seen the long-term effects of untreated trauma which led me to learn specialized treatments and obtain a trauma certification. Trauma affects many areas of our lives if left untreated, but healing is possible and can lead to an improved quality of life.”
In her spare time Abigail enjoys reading, painting and having fun with her cats.
