A graduate of Trinity University and Assumption College, Alec believes that emotional health and well-being deserve more attention than they receive. “We learn how important it is to develop skills in so many aspects of our lives, yet there is no one to teach us how to improve the way we experience life,” he explains. “I chose to become a licensed mental health counselor to bring the conversation back to what matters most – the quality of our experience.”
Alec has specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. He sees himself as a teammate in a highly collaborative process, working with patients toward their goals. “I recognize that patients want support and they also want an ending point,” he explains. “I take an action-orientated approach to help those I work with gain the tools they need to become their own therapists, at their own pace. I use evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, to ensure effective outcomes. I enjoy being with people in their most courageous moments, as they step out of their comfort zones, invest in their mental health, and experience growth.”
In his free time Alec enjoys going for hikes, playing tennis, as well as snowboarding and skateboarding.
