"I found I really loved connecting with my patients."

Back when she was a high school athlete, Dr. Amanda Saini had the unfortunate experience of tearing her ACL. However, that painful experience helped steer her into a career in medicine. “I had surgery, and I just thought it was incredible that I could go from feeling as terrible as I did with the injury to feeling so much better after surgery and physical therapy,” she explains. “That’s what drew me into medicine.”

During her medical education, Dr. Saini decided she wanted to be an OB-Gyn physician. “I found I really loved connecting with my patients. I also enjoyed the care of pregnancy and having the skills to address patients’ problems with surgery when appropriate,” she explains. “I felt, as a young person, I could relate to these other young women pretty well. There was something about OB-Gyn that made me very passionate about women’s health.”

In her practice at Reliant, Dr. Saini enjoys providing prenatal and routine gynecological care, as well as helping women of any age with gynecologic issues such as irregular bleeding, abnormal PAP smears, family planning, and endometriosis, among others. Dr. Saini is well-trained in gynecological surgery, including minimally invasive laparoscopy. “Gynecologic surgery has evolved a lot thanks to the new technologies we have like the da Vinci surgical system, which aims to improve recovery time for patients. I also perform in-office procedures, like colposcopy, LEEP, and IUD placement.”

When caring for patients, Dr. Saini makes a point to treat more than just the disease. “I always try to understand the entire person, their home life, their emotions,” she explains. “I think you have to understand more than the disease in order to treat people well, so I try to take into consideration all the different aspects of their lives.”

Dr. Saini truly enjoys the challenge of being an OB-Gyn each day. “I really enjoy meeting patients and problem-solving with them. Their stories and experiences make OB-Gyn a very rewarding field. I’ve seen the changes that a woman’s body goes through to develop and sustain life, and I think it’s absolutely amazing.”

In her free time Dr. Saini likes to stay active. “I enjoy exercising, yoga, and being outdoors.” She also loves to read, travel, binge-watch good TV, and spend time with her husband and family.
