A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Amy also has a Master’s degree in Nursing from Rivier College.
Amy started her career as a medical assistant (MA) in 1998. She became a nurse in 2004 and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2008. Amy decided to become a nurse practitioner to challenge herself and provide the best care possible to patients. “I feel that caring for patients should not only focus on treating medical issues when they arise but also providing education to patients to prevent the development of disease,” she explains. Amy believes that patients should always be respected and carefully listened too. “I like to look at patients as not a condition but a person with autonomy that must be involved in the decision-making process of their care.”
As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Amy understands that the relationships found within the family are an integral part of the health of the patient. “By educating the whole family on health issues we can better ensure improved health in not only the patient, but also the other members of the family.” In her spare time Amy enjoys reading, watching movies and playing golf. She is also working on her PhD in Nursing.
