A graduate of Simmons College, Karen enjoys working with children and adolescents each day. “Being a pediatric clinical social worker provides me the opportunity to collaborate with children and their families to figure out what obstacles they are facing and how to overcome them,” she explains. “I have always been drawn to working with children and adolescents, due to their energy, candor, resiliency and willingness to try new things.”

Karen primarily uses a cognitive behavioral approach to therapy. “This approach allows those being treated to look at their emotions, physiological reactions, thoughts and behaviors to a given situation and intervene accordingly. What I find most interesting about this work is figuring out how to best help each client benefit from these skills.”

Karen has a particular interest in working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, and panic disorders as well as situational challenges that may include family transitions, peer issues or school difficulties. She enjoys working closely with a child’s pediatrician in coordinating their behavioral health needs.
