A graduate of Cornell University, Northeastern University and Boston College, Kathryn has been working in the field of social work and mental health since 2015.

Working in the human service field earlier in her career Kathryn saw how untreated mental health and substance use disorders adversely affected people and didn’t allow them to realize their full potential. So she decided to make a change and devote her career to supporting individuals in their recovery from all types of mental health and substance use disorders. “This is such a common struggle within our communities and often hidden in secrecy or shame,” she explains. “My hope is to provide a supportive space where people can talk about this challenge, recognize their unique strengths, and identify how they can move forward in creating a life that is aligned with their personal values.”

Kathryn is excited to be working closely with primary care providers and their patients at Reliant. “I am hopeful this way of working together will help improve access to mental health services and over time make consulting with a mental health specialist as normal as getting a blood pressure check.”

Kathryn believes that each patient is truly an expert on themselves. “My goal is to support individuals in identifying their current challenges and behaviors which are aligned – or not aligned – with their core values,” she explains. “In working closely with patients, I strive to create an actionable plan where they can use a variety of new or pre-existing skills to create change over time. This can help patients take action in creating a life that feels meaningful to them. I am especially interested in mindfulness-based practices that support overall wellbeing and increase the ability to implement personal change.”

Kathryn says she loves being part of her patient’s journey to recovery. “It’s wonderful to watch patient’s put in the hard work and reap the gifts of recovery, including increased confidence, community connection, and flexibility when responding to life’s curveballs.”

In her spare time Kathryn enjoys studying and practicing yoga and Reiki. She also enjoys walking and training her adopted rescue dog.
