A graduate of Fitchburg State University and MCPHS University, Lisa started her career in medicine as a nurse and later became an advanced practitioner.
When she was younger, Lisa had a serious health issue and received care from a nurse practitioner. “After I was diagnosed, my NP was extremely compassionate and caring,” she explains. “She followed up with me after a few days to see how I was feeling and I’ll always remember that. This was one of the events that inspired me to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner.”
At Reliant, Lisa often performs home visits for geriatric patients. “I love caring for these patients because they are one of the most vulnerable populations and deserve special attention due to their age, health status, medications, and overall vulnerability,” she explains. “I like to treat the patient as a whole. This means not just treating the patient as a disease, but helping to improve their overall health, including their mental well-being. I also enjoy working closely with families to ensure their health needs are being met.”
Lisa believes many geriatric patients have suffered from being prescribed too many medications. “There’s no doubt that many elderly patients are on too many medications,” she explains. “These can have unwanted side effects and also interact with other medications. So I always watch this closely with my patients.”
When she is not busy seeing patients, Lisa enjoys spending time with her twin sister Michelle, her boyfriend, and other family members. She also has four adorable cats that she enjoys taking care of. Lisa also enjoys studying the Italian language, traveling, cooking, reading, and educating family and friends on the health benefits of organic food and products.
