“There are no shortcuts when it comes to good care.”
For Dr. Maneet Kaur, medicine runs in the family. “Both my parents are physicians, and they helped instill in me a love of making a difference in people’s lives,” she explains. “That’s why I entered medicine.”
Dr. Kaur chose rheumatology as her specialty. “The variety of rheumatology was really appealing to me. Also, I like the fact that rheumatology is complex and involves a lot of detective work. A lot of clinical precision is required to get to a clear diagnosis with a rheumatic illness.”
At Reliant, Dr. Kaur diagnoses and treats patients dealing with a range of rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, pseudo gout, osteoarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), Lyme disease, vasculitis, lupus, auto-immune myopathies as well as other problems.
Dr. Kaur can perform many in-office procedures including joint injections, carpal tunnel injections, and diagnostic procedures such as aspiration of fluid from joints. She also performs ultra-sound guided injections when more precision is needed. Dr. Kaur has expertise in bone-density testing. She is planning to get certified in ultrasound-guided injections in the near future.
Dr. Kaur believes that understanding and listening to the patient is truly important for good care. “I believe the patient knows their body the best. It’s important to incorporate their knowledge and then work with them to individualize the approach that they require. There are no shortcuts when it comes to good care.”
In the future Dr. Kaur believes that new treatments will be available for rheumatology patients with the help of innovations such as artificial intelligence. “I think AI has the potential to impact medicine very significantly. Even now it is having an effect and I think the innovations will increase exponentially in the future.”
When she is not busy helping patients Dr. Kaur enjoys being at home with her husband and children and enjoying a favorite movie or TV show or some popular music. She also enjoys socializing with friends.
