Dr. Benz joined the organization in 2002. His approach to pediatrics is highly collaborative, approaching the needs of each child and their family with compassion, dedication, and sensitivity. Some of his areas of clinical interest include primary care, newborn medicine, international adoption, medical education, and the development of safer pediatric advanced imaging technologies, especially for reducing radiation exposure to children undergoing CT scans. As an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, he actively participates in the education of the next generation of pediatricians.
In 2014, he traveled to Xinzhou, China to volunteer and provide medical support to an orphanage.
His outside interests include travel, hiking, outdoor activities, music, and spending time with family and friends.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, holds a Master of Science from M.I.T. and completed his M.D. at Tufts University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency training in pediatrics at the University of Rochester.
