A graduate of UMass Lowell and Rivier University, Rosalind first worked as a registered nurse for 15 years before becoming an advanced practitioner. Rosalind made the decision to become an advanced psychiatric nurse practitioner after seeing the overall need for better psychiatric care and the loss of a family member. “I lost a close family member to suicide a few days after seeing her for the holidays,” she explains. “The grief I experienced motivated me to get my psychiatric nurse practitioner degree in the hope of preventing others from going through what my family members did.”
Rosalind uses her psychiatric skills to help people with all manner of problems, from dealing with stress to gender identification issues. “I find that in general people are not always so much looking for advice from a mental health professional as they are for assistance and guidance to find their own path,” she explains. “A lot of that is letting people talk out their issues to help find their own way.” Rosalind is extremely excited about the field of mental health and the advances that lie ahead. “In the future, areas like pharmacogenetics, new long-acting injectable psychiatric medications and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are really going to benefit patients. This is one of the reasons I accepted a position here, as Reliant really recognizes and embraces advances in care.”
When she is not busy treating patients Rosalind enjoys family time with her two daughters. She also enjoys gardening, admiring pre-1950 architecture, antiquing with her parents, and caring for her two dachshunds (and four pet rats!).
