Shannon chose to become a physician assistant because she loved the medical profession and helping others. One of the reasons she enjoys working at Reliant is the team-based approach to care. “I really do enjoy being able to bounce ideas off my colleagues,” she explains. “I think taking a team-based approach makes for all-around better care.”
Shannon chose to work in Family Medicine because she enjoys creating strong bonds with her patients and being able to easily follow-up with them. She believes preventative medicine is an extremely important aspect of healthcare. “So many health problems can be prevented by living a better lifestyle. I like to teach my patients as much as I can about preventative health.”
Shannon enjoys meeting new people and hearing their stories; and loves being able to use her knowledge and abilities to help others. She believes that building a strong bond with a patient is the most important way to establish trust. “Once a bond is formed and there is trust, then the provider-patient relationship can thrive, and you are able to make decisions together as a team.”
In her spare time Shannon enjoys traveling with her family, hiking, spending time outdoors with her dogs, and trying different foods.
