“Developing long-term relationships with my patients and getting to know their families is very important to the way I approach care.”

Dr. Veronica Rusu has been practicing medicine since 1978. “I decided to become a doctor while I was still a student in high school and I never regreted it,” she recalls. “For me, practicing medicine has become a dream come true.”

A native of Romania, Dr. Rusu was formerly a pediatric oncologist but since 1994 has been practicing Family Medicine. Dr. Rusu believes it is important to practice holistic medicine and to carefully consider each patient in the context of his/her family when providing treatment. “Developing long-term relationships with my patients and getting to know their families is very important to the way I approach care.”

Dr. Rusu has experience in treating many common diseases that often affect older patients. “These diseases, especially in the elderly, can be challenging to treat, but the results are often so gratifying.” she explains. Dr. Rusu has also taken a special interest in Adolescent Medicine, Preventive Care, and Woman’s Health.

As a physician who has practiced at Reliant Medical Group for many years, Dr. Rusu has come to really appreciate her colleagues. “I think it’s an outstanding group of doctors here who are highly talented and very devoted to their patients. I have known some of them for many years and it is an honor and a privilege to be one of them.”

Dr. Rusu enjoys treating a wide range of patients, from teenagers to the elderly. Many of the relationships she has developed with her patients have lasted for years. “I started treating one women when she was a teenager and continued to see her as she later became a mother of four. When I decided to leave that practice she came to see me with her four kids, her parents, and other family members, all under my care. It was great to see them all together and realize that you played such an important role for that family.”

When Dr. Rusu has some free time away from her patients she enjoys modern art, pottery, biking and traveling. She especially likes to travel to Europe, preferably Italy.
