“I like finding problems and curing disease, that’s why I became a doctor.”
As an internist at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Wayne Trotter carefully oversees the health of his patients. “I am the gatekeeper, so to speak. I make sure my patients are receiving the right care, whether it comes directly from me or a specialist that I might recommend. As their doctor, I am ultimately responsible for their care.”
Dr. Trotter’s open and friendly personality has made him a favorite of many patients. “I try to treat patients like they were my own family members – and treat them the way I would want to be treated. I believe in being straightforward and honest with patients, that’s really the only way. They have free choice to do whatever they want, but I am there to guide them on their care.”
Dr. Trotter has practiced in the town of Milford for many years and enjoys getting to know his patients. “I have had some patients for over 15 years, and it’s amazing how time passes – your patients really become part of your life.” Dr. Trotter will on occasion make a house call to see an elderly patient. “Some of my most rewarding patient experiences have been when making house calls – people are so appreciative. You frequently meet the whole family and it can be a tremendous experience. I have seen seventy year-old children taking care of their ninety year-old parents and it really is amazing to see that.”
As an internist, Dr. Trotter enjoys interfacing with his colleagues at Reliant Medical Group everyday. “From a medical standpoint, I love the ability to pick up the phone and ask a question that will expand my knowledge base. In that same regard, I like the fact that we are really kept up-to-date by our specialists and by the organization in general. I can always get the information I need and I don’t even have to think about it. At Reliant Medical Group, we are on the cutting edge all the time with what is new.”
When he is not working with his patients in Milford, Dr. Trotter enjoys staying in shape by skiing, running and playing volleyball. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and reading mystery novels by some of his favorite writers like Dan Brown and Aaron Elkins. Dr. Trotter is also a big sports fan and enjoys following football and college basketball. “I really love to watch the NFL each fall.”
