Our Behavioral Health department offers a number of virtual support groups for our primary care patients. If you are interested in participating, just contact your primary care provider.

Please note: Virtual group participants are required to be in Massachusetts when the virtual group visit occurs.

Adult Anxiety Skills Group:

Managing anxiety is a skill. While some anxiety can be helpful, too much can become difficult to bear. This course will teach participants about the nature of anxiety – why we have it, what its purpose is, and how it impacts us physically and emotionally. Additionally, the work will focus on learning and practicing methods of managing anxiety. The group focuses on developing and practicing techniques which can be applied in the real world, and on increasing participants’ abilities to live full and healthy lives in the presence of anxiety.

The group meets virtually Tuesdays 4:00pm-5:00pm or Thursdays 9:00am-10:00am.

Adult Bereavement Group:

8-session telehealth group for people experiencing a loss.

We know the 2-year pandemic has taken with almost a million deaths in America. Funeral rituals, wakes, and memorial services have either been suspended or curtailed. The social isolation has impacted the grieving process for many.

The group meets virtually Fridays 11:00am-12:00pm to provide safe place for support for those on a grief journey.

Adult Caregivers Group

A group for individuals who are caregivers for someone who has dementia.  This group helps caregivers to develop coping skills and self- care strategies to assist them with their caregiver role.

This group meets virtually Thursdays 10:30am-12:00pm.

Adult Insomnia Group

7 session group that provides nonpharmacologic treatment for Insomnia.  The treatment we use is the first line treatment for insomnia. We employ all of the interventions that have been shown to be effective for insomnia.

This group meets virtually Mondays 4:30pm-6:00pm or Wednesdays 10:00am-11:30am.

Adult Stress Management Group:

This is a program designed to introduce skills and strategies to cope with stress and other behavioral health problems. It involves understanding the connection between thoughts and emotions, identifying unhelpful habitual thinking patterns, and learning how to modify automatic negative thoughts to reduce their impact on mood. The program relies on non-judgmental acceptance of all participants, practicing new skills between sessions, and ongoing commitment to improve quality of life, despite existing limitations.

The program draws from evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Topics covered include Stress Management, Conflict Management, Coping with Difficult Emotions, Relaxation Training, and Introduction to Mindfulness and Acceptance.

The group meets virtually Tuesdays 9am-10am.

Pediatrics Coping Creatively Group:

This 6-week in-person group will focus on fostering emotional regulation, developing coping skills, improving effective communication and expression, as well as learning the importance of maintaining healthy social connections. Your child will develop a “tool kit” of coping strategies to use when they are struggling to control strong thoughts, feelings and emotions.

The group meets Tuesday 4:45pm-5:45pm.
