Choosing Wisely, a campaign developed by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Foundation, is designed to help patients and physicians begin a conversation about which medical tests and procedures are really necessary for proper treatment. The idea is to encourage a dialogue between patients and physicians so that the right care is delivered at the right time – and not duplicative of other tests or procedures or potentially harmful to the patient.
