Today, people turn to outpatient speech/language therapy as a supplement to school speech therapy, following a new medical diagnosis, an extension of rehabilitation following a hospitalization, short term rehabilitation stay, or following discharge from home therapy. Speech and Language Services Available
The Reliant Medical Group Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine offers a variety of speech/language services to meet individual needs.
Language Evaluation and Treatment
Evaluation of language (including following directions, answering questions, responding to questions, using grammatical milestones). Standardized tools are used as appropriate. Develop and execute a treatment plan to improve identified areas of weakness related to patient or family goals.
Speech Evaluation and Treatment
Evaluation of speech skills (including articulation, muscle weakness, and fluency). Standardized tools are used as appropriate. Develop and execute a treatment plan to improve identified areas of weakness related to patient or family goals.
Voice Evaluation and Treatment
Evaluation of voice (including respiration, phonation, articulation, resonation, and misuse/abusive behaviors). Develop and execute a treatment plan to improve identified areas of weakness related to patient or family goals.
Dysphagia Evaluation and Treatment
Evaluation of swallowing problems and treatment including compensatory diet training, strategy teaching, and/or muscle strengthening exercises.
Modified Barium Swallow Test
Radiological video examination of swallowing problems including compensatory diet training, strategy teaching, and/or follow-up recommendations.
