Indira pursued her career as a licensed mental health counselor as a way of helping those who need it most. “I really wanted to understand human behavior so I could help others,” she explains. “In my career I initially started working with children who were victims of sexual abuse, and now I am able to help people dealing with all types of challenging problems.”

Indira says her philosophy working with patients is to first do no harm. “We always need to know our competences and professional limitations,” she explains. “I try my best to understand the world view of my patients and their different concerns in order to work collaboratively toward a common goal.”

Indira has received advanced training in sexual abuse and domestic violence. “I made the decision to pursue this after seeing an increase in violence against women in my country of origin,” she explains. “This helped me have the right tools and training for my client’s wellbeing. I like helping other people. It is very satisfying seeing positive results of therapeutic interventions, especially in challenging cases.”

In her free time Indira enjoys going hiking and spending time with my family.
