Abigail started her career in healthcare as an EMT and that introduced her to working with people who need assistance with their mental health. “I have always enjoyed lending an ear to people in need and offering support when they need it,” she explains.

In her work in the Behavioral Health department Abigail strives to meet patients where they are at, offer non-judgmental support, and aid in creating a space where growth and change can occur. “I have worked in a variety of settings with different people who have taught me numerous skills throughout my professional journey,” she explains. “I believe that each patient I have worked with has taught me something which I try to use to help others along the way.”

Abigail loves the work she does with patients, although it can sometimes be challenging. “I love getting to meet people and feel honored when they are willing to be open and vulnerable with me,” she explains. “One of the biggest challenges of working in this field is a feeling of helplessness when people are in emotional pain and wanting to help them. I feel it’s important to be present for the patient but allow them to reach their own conclusions of what will work best for them.”

When she is not busy helping patients, Abigail enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, as well as reading and going to the beach.
