Learn more about Behavioral Health at Reliant
Rachel has always been interested in helping people and knew that becoming a social worker would allow her to make a difference in the lives of others. “I have been a licensed social worker since 2019 and I have been working with children and families since 2011,” she explains. “I chose my career because I wanted to help people, especially children and adolescents, and allow them to feel heard and understood.”
Rachel uses a strength-based approach when working with her patients. She likes to find out what is working well for them and then build upon that. “I often tell patients and families that ‘you are the expert on you,’ and my job is to help guide you and find out what other supports we can add to help you,” she explains. “I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy in my work. It can be a very helpful tool used either alone or in combination with other therapies in treating disorders such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety. Cognitive behavioral therapy can also be used to help people better manage stressful life situations.”
In her practice at Reliant, Rachel loves working with children and adolescents to help them through their “growing pains.” She enjoys teaching her patients key skills that will set them up for continued future success. One of the reasons Rachel likes practicing at Reliant is that having behavioral health providers incorporated into primary care offices is a great way to improve access to care. “There is a real lack of access to mental health resources in many communities. Fortunately at Reliant, people have access to the proper care they need to get better.”
When she is not busy helping patients, Rachel likes to spend time with family and friends. She also enjoys baking and reading and enjoying the outdoors.
