Learn more about the Advanced Practice Clinician Collaborative
Emily has been involved in healthcare her entire career. She started out working as a certified nursing assistant while attending nursing school. Emily later made the decision to become an advanced practitioner. “I chose to become an advanced practitioner because there is more responsibility and opportunity to practice autonomously which allows me to tailor treatment plans that will have a greater impact on my patients’ needs and concerns,” she explains.
Emily chose to continue working in family medicine due to her passion for both preventive and community health care. “Family medicine has always interested me because you can treat and care for entire families across the lifespan. This allows long-term, trusted relationships to develop, which is essential for collaborating with the patient on decisions regarding health.”
In her practice at Reliant Emily strongly believes in providing holistic care. “I think it is important to recognize individuals’ emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and physical needs to be able to promote wellness and treat concerns,” she explains. “One thing I love about healthcare, is that not every day is the same. There are different challenges to overcome each day. You are continuously learning something new, which is why I find it fascinating.”
In her spare time, Emily enjoys a good reality TV show and spending time with family and friends.
