Overall Patient Rating
4.9 out of 5 stars - 140 total ratingsAmy started her career in medicine as a nurse before becoming a nurse practitioner. She was inspired to become a nurse by her grandmother, who suffered a stroke at a young age. “She was a strong advocate of overcoming adversity and working toward your highest potential,” she explains. “Even as a bedside nurse, I felt that there was something more that I could do for my patients to give them a greater level of care. I became a nurse practitioner to provide the highest level of care possible and to help my patients improve their quality of life.”
Amy has always been fascinated with surgical procedures and the way the body heals. “I understand that surgery is often scary for patients. Providing education regarding the disease process and what the patient might experience can be comforting and can help alleviate any possible fear and anxiety during the recovery process.”
As a nurse practitioner Amy truly enjoys patient interaction and working with people each day. “For me, every day is potentially is a new challenge, a new diagnosis, and something new to learn,” she explains. “I want to make a difference in the lives of my patients, help improve their condition, and make a positive impact on their lives. The principles of compassion, integrity, dignity, and respect guide my philosophy of care.”
When she is not busy helping others, Amy likes to spend time with her family, which includes her husband, two sons, two dogs, and her friends. She enjoys the outdoors, whether hiking, going to the beach, attending her son’s football and baseball games, and exploring new places.
