Overall Patient Rating
4.9 out of 5 stars - 55 total ratingsAllison has been involved in medicine her entire career. She started practicing as a certified nursing assistant before becoming a registered nurse and then making the decision to become an advanced practitioner. Allison has provided care everywhere from skilled nursing facilities to hospital emergency rooms. “I became an advanced practitioner so that I could care for patients in a more in-depth manner and on a higher level,” she explains. “I wanted to have more responsibility in regard to patient care without losing the holistic approach that nurses take.”
Allison decided to focus on Family Medicine during her training because she wanted to develop a close relationship with patients as well as their family members. “Working in an emergency room for six years, there was never enough time to build up a good trusting relationship with the patients,” she explains. “We would treat their chief complaint and then they would leave. We never knew how they did after that, there was no follow-up. I am anxious to build up a relationship with my patients, treat them, and be able to follow up and check in on how they are doing. Family medicine seemed to be the best way to fulfill this.”
In her practice Allison likes to approach her patients with a judgement-free attitude. “I believe the best care is delivered when the patients trust their provider and are truthful. The best way to ensure this type of relationship is to approach the patients with an open mind and refrain from being judgmental. I really hope that with this philosophy my patients are truthful and open up to me about anything.”
In her spare time Allison enjoys being active outdoors and spending time with her family.
