Although he was born in India, Dr. Darshak Patel grew up in Massachusetts not far from Worcester. After graduating from medical school, he became a Family Practice physician but also spent some time working for walk-in care providers. “I found I really enjoyed providing walk-in care,” he explains. “I always loved doing sutures, incisions and drainage, splinting and other procedures like that. I think it makes your work as a doctor more interesting and I enjoyed the fast pace.”

Although he occasionally still works at our ReadyMED offices, Dr. Patel now concentrates on his internal medicine practice in Framingham. In his practice at Reliant, Dr. Patel always makes a point to listen carefully to his patients. “I will examine them and listen to what they tell me and then make my assessment and plan of care,” he explains. “If you don’t listen, patients don’t get the care they need. So I really try to take my time with patients and see what their main complaint is and try to address that. That’s the way to provide the best care in my opinion.”

Dr. Patel always makes a point to take as much time as needed when working with patients. “You have to make sure that you know all the different issues your patient is facing. So, I always take my time to make my assessment and make sure my patients get the care they need.”

When he is not busy helping patients, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He also loves watching movies, going to the gym, listening to music, and sports such as rowing and biking.
