“I think it’s really important to have a partnership between the patient and the physician.”

A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Parikh comes from a family of physicians. Like her father and other family members, she enjoys using her medical skills to help others and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

After finishing her schooling, Dr. Parikh decided she wanted to become a primary care physician. “I think working at the primary care level you can have a bigger impact because you have more of a connection with the patient and a better understanding of their needs,” she explains.

Dr. Parikh has learned that one of the most important aspects of practicing medicine is communicating well with the patient. “I think it’s really important to have a partnership between the patient and the physician. This is crucial because patients really have to be involved in their medical decision-making. Their care really has to fit into the way they live their life in order to be effective.”

In her practice Dr. Parikh has a special interest in preventative care. She knows that behavioral health and physical health work hand in hand. Understanding that a lot of the issues people have as they get older are due to diet and lifestyle, Dr. Parikh helps her patients with these changes. “It is important to accept that several physical ailments are tied to diet and mental health,” she explains. “Some examples of these modifications include eating more whole foods and less processed foods as well as exercising and practicing mindfulness. Implementing these adjustments can often avoid problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, diabetes, and other chronic disease.”

When she is not busy caring for patients at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Parikh loves to travel and explore new places, try new restaurants, and spend time with her husband and two teenage daughters.
