Brianna started in the healthcare field as a teenager as a hospital volunteer, where her passion for labor and delivery started. She would go on to attend college and nursing school, and after working as a sexual and reproductive health nurse she returned to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.
One of the reasons Brianna became an advanced practitioner is because she enjoys helping people navigate challenging healthcare decisions and educating them about the normalcy of reproductive healthcare. “I chose midwifery because I can care for women across their lifespan and honor the normal life processes that are pregnancy and birth,” she explains. “It is incredibly rewarding to empower clients to feel more confident in their bodies and their healthcare decisions.”
Brianna works hard to reduce patients fear around healthcare and help them feel empowered to access gynecological care. “For some people, it can take a long time to feel comfortable visiting an OB/Gyn provider. However, it’s wonderful to see a patient’s worries be eased during your care.”
When working with patients, Brianna likes to provide care that is person-centered and focused on shared decision making. “I recognize patients are the experts when it comes to their own bodies and their health can be influenced by a multitude of factors in their lives,” she explains. “My role is to give them a space to freely discuss health concerns and provide the information they need to make healthcare decisions that work in the context of their lives.”
In her spare time Brianna enjoys knitting, crocheting, reading horror novels and traveling. Brianna is also a senior dog rescuer and a “bird mom” to two small parrots.
