Jessica decided to become a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) because she realized the importance of helping people improve their mental health. “I feel that mental health services are just as important as medical services,” she explains.
Jessica has over a decade of experience working in the mental health field in various settings including crisis and emergency services, outpatient, and inpatient psychiatric settings. Jessica believes that the patient knows themselves best, which is why she utilizes a patient-centered, strength-based approach to help patients with whatever problem they are struggling with. “I believe it’s important to collaborate with patients on their mental health goals and find appropriate treatment modalities that help them achieve these goals.”
Throughout her career Jessica has had a lot of experience in mental health crisis treatment. “I chose this area after seeing many patients utilize the emergency room when having a mental health crisis and seeing that they were receiving substandard care due to stigma about who experiences a mental health crisis,” she explains. “I strive to advocate for those dealing with a mental health crisis and work to support them on their road to recovery in a dignified and caring way. I like to make a difference, no matter how small, in every aspect of my work.”
In her spare time Jessica enjoys reading, watching new movies, going on hikes, traveling to new countries, and spending time with her two dogs.
