“For me, it’s a privilege to be able to watch children grow and help set them up for future success.”
Dr. Martha Fredette always loved working with children. “I knew from an early age that I wanted to help children and make it my life’s work,” she explains. “For me, being a pediatrician was the perfect way to blend my passion for helping others with my love for science and physiology.”
According to Dr. Fredette, practicing in pediatrics is unique because it focuses on the intersection of physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. “I enjoy helping patients navigate all aspects of their health, as they are all linked to leading a fulling life,” she explains. “I enjoy partnering with parents to guide them in supporting their child in the best way possible. For me, it’s a privilege to be able to watch children grow and help set them up for future success.”
In her practice Dr. Fredette has a special interest in child development and is also trained in screening and the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She also enjoys adolescent health, helping those dealing with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. “This is a critical time as they gain more autonomy over decisions around their health. As we know, mental and behavioral health is crucial to a child’s overall health. That’s why I help patients connect with the resources they need for proper mental health care.”
Dr. Fredette always makes a point to listen carefully to her patients and their family members so she can help navigate their concerns. “Even if we can’t find an answer right away, I am always there to listen, connect patients with the right resources, and navigate the steps to figuring out the issue and putting needed supports in place.”
As a pediatrician, Dr. Fredette believes that it takes a team to provide high quality care and address all the needs of her pediatric patients. “I don’t think I could give my patients the best possible care without all the resources that Reliant provides. We take a wholistic and team-based approach to care. Everyone here is dedicated to caring for children and their families as well as each other.”
Outside of work, Dr. Fredette loves spending time in nature, and enjoys yoga, cooking, and being with her husband and two cats.
