On January 1, 2013, the Massachusetts Medical Use of Marijuana law took effect. We want Reliant Medical Group patients to understand our policy regarding the authorization of marijuana (cannabis) for medical use.

Our primary care providers and pain specialists will not be authorizing medical marijuana due to the lack of efficacy and potential risk to the patient. However, some Cancer and Infectious Disease patients may be prescribed medical marijuana under certain circumstances, including intractable vomiting after chemotherapy and chronic wasting syndrome for those suffering from HIV.

We hope that all patients will acknowledge and respect the decisions of our medical staff regarding the authorization of medical marijuana at Reliant Medical Group, and we will provide updated information when available.
