Has Social Media Taken Over Your Life?
By Amy Chau, FNP Department of Family Practice Social media has become a big part of almost everyone’s life these days. However, for...
Athena first worked as a registered nurse before becoming an advanced practitioner. “As a nurse, I cared for many patients with illnesses that I thought could have been prevented or improved with more effective primary care,” she explains. “Becoming a nurse practitioner enabled me to build trusting, ongoing relationships with patients so that I can provide the effective, patient-centered care they deserve.”
Athena enjoys working in Family Practice and teaching her patients about preventative care. “Building ongoing relationships with patients allows me to be able to work closely with them and help prevent illness through healthy lifestyle changes and effective medical care.”
In her practice Athena believes strongly in including patients in the decision-making process. “By working closely with my patients I can help them make informed, shared decisions regarding their health,” she explains. “I believe that each patient is unique and, therefore, their healthcare should be individualized to meet their specific needs. I am really passionate about supporting and motivating patients to take charge of their health.”
Athena genuinely loves getting to know people and having a positive impact on their life. She believes that external factors like work, personal life and family matters can have a big impact on a person’s health. “I believe that in order to effectively care for patients, providers must truly get to know the patient in order to understand all the factors that impact their health.”
Born and raised in Worcester, in her spare time Athena loves cooking (especially baking), skiing, walking, traveling, and spending time on Cape Cod with her large (and loud) Greek family.
Star ratings are based on patient responses to 5 questions about the care they have received from their provider. Responses are measured on a scale of 1-5 and the average score is displayed in an easy to view, 5-star format. Learn more about how we measure our patient experience.
