Learn more about the Advanced Practice Clinician Collaborative

Brent began his career as a nurse and later studied to become a nurse practitioner. He says working with advanced practitioners at Reliant helped inspired him to do more as a caregiver. “One of the reasons I became a nurse practitioner was that I wanted to help people not only with their pathologic issues but also their holistic issues,” he explains.

After becoming an advanced practitioner Brent choose to work in Family Practice so he could treat patients ranging in age from newborns to the elderly. “Being able to serve multiple members of a single family adds another layer to my role that I find very unique and fulfilling,” he explains.

At Reliant Brent works hard to make his care as individualistic as possible. “What is going to work for one person is not going to work for everyone,” he explains. “That’s why treatment plans should be a conversation between the provider and the patient, not something predetermined.”

According to Brent, the best part of being a primary care advanced practitioner are the relationships he makes with his patients. “As a family nurse practitioner, you have the opportunity to apply the qualities of a nurse while also utilizing your skills to diagnose and treat,” he explains. “This is what makes the job so special to me.”

In his spare time Brent enjoys going on walks with his two dogs. He is also a big Boston sports fan and likes attending games at TD Garden. Brent also enjoys teaching children of all ages aquatic training with the American Red Cross.
