Learn more about the Advanced Practice Clinician Collaborative
Brooke started her career as a nurse in a hospital ICU and then transitioned to practicing as a primary care nurse at Reliant. “I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to make a difference in my patient’s lives outside of the hospital,” she explains. “I knew it would allow me to advocate better for my patients.”
One of the reasons Brooke decided to practice in primary care was that after working with patients in the ICU she saw that many admissions could have been prevented with better outpatient care of chronic conditions. “My goal is to prevent patients from having to come into the hospital in the first place by providing high quality primary care.”
Brooke loves seeing her patients make progress on their health goals over the course of their visits. She also enjoys communicating closely with them about their health concerns. “By speaking with patients about what their priorities are and what their own philosophy of health is, I feel I can make a meaningful connection in a way that benefits them the most.”
When she is not busy with patients, Brooke enjoys being near the water during the summer months and going snowmobiling in the winter. She also enjoys spending time with her fiancé, being with friends and family, and taking walks with her Labrador retriever Finley.
