“I’ve always thought of medicine as a team sport, including the patient as part of the team in their own care.”

Dr. Christine Chevalier-Horgan originally thought she was going to be an engineer when she was younger but the field of medicine eventually won out. “I liked figuring out how the human body works, understanding all the processes,” she explains. “I just loved all the different aspects of medicine – plus the fact that I would be working with people each day.”

When caring for her patients, Dr. Chevalier-Horgan makes a point to engage in shared decision-making. “I’ve always thought of medicine as a team sport, including the patient as part of the team in their own care,” she explains. One of the things Dr. Chevalier-Horgan enjoys the most is helping women with their family planning. “I can help women figure out their menstrual history and any problems such as endometriosis and PCOS that can cause pelvic pain and/or infertility. We often grow up thinking pain is a normal part of being a woman but I’m here to help patients lead more comfortable, healthy lives and discuss gynecologic goals.”

In her practice, Dr. Chevalier-Horgan has a special interest in gynecologic surgery. Some of the procedures she performs include laparoscopic procedures for ovarian cysts, hysteroscopies, hysterectomies and fallopian tube removal. She also assists with all forms of contraception and can help women deal with menopause symptoms.

Dr. Chevalier-Horgan has always had a big interest in surgery, especially robotic surgery. “Using the da Vinci surgical robot allows surgeons to perform complex pelvic surgery more easily. This type of laparoscopic surgery is also easier on the patient, as they can recover more quickly. I really enjoy taking advantage of new technologies that can benefit women’s health. It’s very exciting to see where things are going.”

Dr. Chevalier-Horgan grew up in the Worcester area and is a College of the Holy Cross alum. In her free time she enjoys crocheting as well as outdoor activities including biking, walking, skiing and spending time near lakes and the ocean.
