“I love being able to care for a woman throughout her pregnancy and then into childbirth as well.”
Originally from California, Dr. Isabella Silvestre always loved science. “I found the study of science fascinating which helped lead me into medicine,” she explains. “My father was also a doctor, and the relationships he built with his patients really impressed me. So I wanted to have a career like his, one that combined science with helping others.”
One of the reasons Dr. Silvestre enjoys practicing in OB-Gyn is because it allows her to see patients regularly, as well as perform procedures. “I like the fact that you get to care for your patients over a long period of time, from the teen years to menopause,” she explains. “Plus performing procedures such as births and surgeries is something I really enjoy. I love being able to care for a woman throughout her pregnancy and then into childbirth as well. I just enjoy everything about OB-Gyn.”
In her practice, Dr. Silvestre spends a lot of time guiding women on family planning. For women who are just beginning to try to become pregnant, she will often recommend smartphone apps to start. “There is a lot of new technology now that can help women on their pregnancy journey,” she explains. “Just tracking your cycle carefully can make a big difference. So I encourage women to use these apps as they are starting their journey of beginning a family.”
In her spare time, Dr. Silvestre loves going hiking with her dog and also loves to travel. She also enjoys going to the beach in the warmer months and reading fiction.
