Jamie started her career as a nurse before going back to school to become a certified nurse midwife (CNM). “Nursing will always hold a special place in my heart, and I think it gives me unique insight as a provider,” she explains. “I have always wanted to be a nurse midwife, and the relationships I formed with my patients as a nurse only strengthened that desire. That’s why I was glad to take the next step in my career and become a nurse midwife.”
Jamie believes that every woman deserves access to providers that make them feel safe and understood. “I think that it is a privilege to be able to provide this sensitive care,” she explains. “To me, nurse-midwifery is about more than just providing clinical care – it’s about forming real, trusting relationships with patients and to help empower them through some of the most vulnerable times of their lives.”
For Jamie, listening, collaboration, and trust are some of the most important components of care. “My role as a nurse midwife is to help support, guide, and empower women to be active participants in their care,” she explains. “It is important to me to create a space where patients feel truly heard and safe to voice their concerns, ask questions, and make decisions that align with their values. This is essential to having a trusting and beneficial relationship with a patient.”
In her spare time, Jamie loves to travel (especially if a good hiking spot is involved). She also loves trying different foods and exploring new restaurants.
