Learn more about the Advanced Practice Clinician Collaborative
Julia started her medical career while still in college, working in a series of roles before first becoming a registered nurse and then an advanced practitioner. “I enjoyed my time in nursing getting to know my patients, hearing their stories, and helping them start on a path to an improved quality of life,” she explains. “It was these patient relationships that led me to pursue a career as an advanced practitioner. I wanted to establish long-term relationships with my patients and be able to celebrate their milestones and joys of life along the way.”
Julia chose to pursue a career in Family Medicine so she could care for multiple members of the same family, establishing relationships across generations. “I love the opportunity to see a mother and child in a single visit or to discuss the possibility of caring for a patient’s elderly parent because they feel comfortable with me as a provider,” she explains.
Julia believes that it’s important to for patients to work closely with their provider to ensure good care. “When a patient brings up a health issue with me it will always be taken seriously,” she explains. “I want patients to be open with me about their health concerns and their goals. They should know I will always be by their side and in their corner when it comes to their health.”
When she is not busy helping patients, Julia enjoys going on hikes with her German Shepard and cozying up on the couch with a good book and a cup of coffee. She also enjoys traveling.
