Sophie started her healthcare career as a registered nurse in women’s health prior to becoming a midwife. She always desired a career centered around people. “I love sharing knowledge, especially when it empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their mental and physical wellbeing,” she explains.
Sophie finds the intersection of mental and hormonal health to be fascinating. “It wasn’t until college that I first experienced the person-centered care of a midwife and discovered a specialty I wanted to immerse myself in. Midwifery helps ensure women’s sexual and reproductive experiences are positive, evidence-based, and personalized in every life stage. I love working in a profession where I can empower people in their health day-to-day and serve as their advocate. Undoubtedly, one of my greatest privileges is providing supportive, low-intervention care and encouragement during birth.”
Sophie enjoys helping woman get through the major transitions in their life. “My goal as a provider is to help each person determine and maintain their own definition of optimal wellness during these changes, especially through pregnancy and postpartum,” she explains. “An example of this holistic approach may include guidance on quality nutrition, sleep, and mental health practices. Most importantly, I believe in compassionate care that encourages the inclusion of loved ones.”
When she is not busy with patients, Sophie enjoys rock climbing and strength training with her partner each week. She also likes creative endeavors such as cooking, sewing and refinishing furniture.
