Brittany Jaso, PhD has always been drawn to understanding people – their stories, what shapes their life, and how they make sense of their experiences. Over time, that curiosity grew into a career focused on helping others navigate life’s challenges. “As a clinical psychologist it’s a great privilege to be present with someone going through a difficult time,” she explains. “And to support them in building the skills and confidence they need to move forward.”
To better help patients, Brittany has advanced training in anxiety disorders and body image concerns. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process, describing it as “a team sport” where she and her patients work together to face whatever challenges arise. Her priority is creating a space where patients feel genuinely heard and supported while also offering practical, evidence-based tools they can use in the moment and over time. She may also incorporate digital supports, such as apps or virtual reality, to extend that work beyond sessions.
According to Brittany, one of the biggest challenges for patients is understanding that progress isn’t linear and isn’t always noticeable right away. “There are setbacks all the time and change can be slow but learning to celebrate small wins and showing up consistently is all we can ask of ourselves.”
What Brittany likes most about her profession is the opportunity to build genuine, trusting relationships with patients and to help them translate what they’ve learned into action. “It is incredibly meaningful to see someone gain insight, develop new skills, and start to experience the world and their lives differently,” she explains.
Outside of her clinical work, Brittany enjoys getting lost in a good book, sewing quilts, and competing in agility trials with her dog, Riley.
