Dr. Rochelle Fritz says she has enjoyed working with young people since she was a young person herself. “Throughout high school and college I worked with children in daycare settings and through volunteer organizations. I was taught from a young age to always look out for your neighbor and help others when you see someone struggling,” she explains. “I was drawn to the field of psychology due to the breadth and wealth of knowledge the field has to offer to others. I believe that fostering good mental and socio-emotional health, identifying and promoting resources and strengths, and focusing on prevention can positively affect individuals, their families, and the communities they live in.”
In her work at Reliant as a pediatric behavioral health provider Dr. Fritz works closely with children, adolescents, and their families to help address concerns with anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, ADHD, trauma and stress, as well as parenting questions and challenges, and adjustment to life changes. “I practice primarily with a cognitive-behavioral orientation, and find the focus on understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to be highly effective at addressing mental health concerns,” she explains.
When providing treatment, Dr. Fritz makes a point to consider the many factors that influence an individual and family’s experience to help determine the most effective way to help facilitate change. “My goal as a professional is to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and skills necessary to create change within themselves, their families, and beyond.”
Dr. Fritz finds it exciting and rewarding to help those she works with to learn how to make changes within themselves in order to improve their well-being. “I very much appreciate the value placed on research and science and using the knowledge we gain to continually improve the practice of psychology. This is the best way to be sure we are able to most effectively help those who are struggling with mental health concerns.”
When she is not busy with patients Dr. Fritz enjoys spending time with her husband and four children going hiking, kayaking, biking, doing science experiments, and playing whatever game her kids come up with. She also enjoys working with her hands and creating things in a variety of ways, whether through sewing, baking, or small woodworking projects.
