Cindy Jones “Buzzes Off” to Help Kids with Cancer

Children undergoing cancer treatment don’t have a choice in losing their hair. That’s one reason why Cindy Jones, a Patient Service Specialist in Holden, decided to have her hair “buzzed off” as part of the One Mission Buzz Off held June 5th at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Cindy was inspired by an experience with a young cancer patient when she was working in the pediatric department in Westborough.

The funds raised during the event, which featured Patriots star Rob Gronkowski, will help make undergoing cancer treatment easier for pediatric patients and their families. Everything from books, games and toys, to play dates, pizza parties and music therapy is supported by the donations. “When people ask me how I could shave off my hair, I tell them that hair can make us look beautiful and feel beautiful, but the true beauty in a person really comes from the soul,” explained Cindy Jones. “By doing this I’m not just raising money, I’m also showing kids that they are not alone in their fight against cancer.”

Cindy has raised over $2,300 so far in the One Mission Buzz Off. You can learn more about how the organization helps children and families dealing with cancer by visiting buzzforkids.org.
