After spending a few years as a nurse in an acute care setting, Kathryn realized that she wanted to take on a more involved role helping patients. “Being a family nurse practitioner, I have the opportunity to see patients on a more consistent basis than working in acute care,” she explains. “This allows me to develop a strong relationship with patients in order to help them optimize their health. I want to be viewed as a collaborator and a partner in my patient’s health, not just a provider.”
More recently, Kathryn has worked in the specialty of cardiology which she is very passionate about. Her experience includes interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure and other areas of cardiology. She has also worked in orthopedics and medical-surgical nursing during her career. “When I started working in cardiology, I was amazed at all the complexities and intricacies in the field,” she explains. “I love the fact that there are so many conditions to learn about, including how the heart affects other systems in the body.”
Kathryn’s years at the bedside have provided her with invaluable insight into the patient experience. “Through my years as a nurse, I gained a lot of insight into what patients go through and I use this knowledge to provide better care as a provider.” During her career, Kathryn has been honored with a clinical nursing excellence award as well as the DAISY Award.
In her spare time, Kathryn loves to be outdoors and especially enjoys hiking. She often spends time on the Wachusett Mountain hiking trails and other trails in the region. She also enjoys winter sports such as skiing.

Kathryn established a trust between us within the first 5 minutes. She was very thorough without being intrusive. She explained the tests, she thought I needed, which was comforting. She was "top-notch!"
