A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Boston University Graduate School of Social Work, Melanie has been a licensed independent clinical social worker since 1991. Melanie says that her analytical nature and interest in human behavior naturally led her into her career in Behavioral Health.
Melanie believes in a patient-centered approach to care. “I try to incorporate as much of a patient’s life context as possible into their care. I believe family, culture, community and other factors inform and influence a patient’s values, priorities and worldview,” she explains. “Understanding the patient as a person is one of the most important things in being able to help them behaviorally.”
Some of the clinical issues that Melanie treats include mood and dual diagnosis disorders, phase of life issues, and work-related stress. Melanie also has a background in urgent and emergent psychiatric care, employee assistance, community mental health, hospital-based psychiatric care, and most recently worked for McLean Hospital before coming to Reliant. “I’m very grateful for these informing experiences. They have been guided me as I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my patients.”
