“Even though diabetes is a chronic disease, if people control their weight and lead a healthier lifestyle it’s possible for them to come off their medications…”

Dr. Ebrahimpour has long had an interest in endocrinology. “My interest in this field started in my medical school years,” she explains. “I did research in endocrinology before starting my residency. After that, I completed a Master’s degree in Public Health, which was focused on endocrinology research. I thought that working in this field would help me make a positive impact on people in terms of their overall health.”

In her work at Reliant, Dr. Ebrahimpour sees many patients suffering from chronic diseases and disorders. “Since endocrinology diseases are mostly long-term, the patient can at times be overwhelmed by the impact and all the limitations it can put on their life,” she explains. “However, if you educate the patient and work closely with them, you can overcome these problems.”

As an endocrinologist, Dr. Ebrahimpour treats patients with diabetes in addition to thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, bone disorders, pituitary problems, hypogonadism and other endocrine problems. “With diabetes treatment, our goal now is not just controlling blood sugar levels, but we also need to be aware of the other complications that may come from diabetes such as cardiovascular disease,” she explains. “That’s why we work hard to tailor the treatment carefully to each patient and monitor them carefully,” she explains. “Even though diabetes is a chronic disease, if people control their weight and lead a healthier lifestyle it’s possible for them to come off their medications and also prevent many long-term health complications.”

When she is not busy helping patients, Dr. Ebrahimpour enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys playing tennis, watching movies, reading, and traveling to new places.
