“What I like most about Reliant is that everyone is here to help the patient.”
As an internist at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Seema Naravane enjoys treating the wide variety of cases that come her way each day. “Working in primary care we are really on the front lines of medicine, being the first to see the patient and making the initial diagnosis,” she explains. “I find it fascinating to be able to treat all manner of conditions from head to toe and provide continuity of care.”
In addition to treating her patients, Dr. Naravane also enjoys working as part of a team with her colleagues at Reliant. “What I like most about Reliant is that everyone is here to help the patient. From primary care doctors to specialists, everyone is really focused on doing the best for the patient.” Dr. Naravane also likes the fact that at Reliant she is able to provide comprehensive care for her patients. “Most of the patients I refer stay within the Reliant family and I know the patients really appreciate that.”
Although she works in primary care now, Dr. Naravane’s prior training in infectious disease has come to be an asset while diagnosing patients. “I once had a patient with a life-threatening skin infection who had to be operated on immediately. You never know what cases you will see in your busy day.”
In her time as a physician, Dr. Naravane has seen how new technologies are making a big impact on patient care. “Medicine is always changing – in a digital world, clinicians are constantly striving to make the most efficient use of tools in order to deliver the best patient care. Of course, all the technology in the world can’t replace the person-to-person contact of a doctor sitting down and talking with a patient.”
Dr. Naravane is a much-honored physician at Reliant Medical Group. She has served on the Reliant Medical Group’s Board of Trustees for 7 years, including a two-year stint as the first woman board chair. In 2017, she received the Best Primary Care Physician Millbury–Sutton Chronicle Readers’ Choice Award. She was also the recipient of the Blue-Ribbon designation for high performance on select quality and cost efficiency measures by Tufts Health Plan in 2009, and the Excellence in Primary Care Award from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in 2005.
When she is not busy with her patients, Dr. Naravane enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking (especially gourmet Indian food), taking long walks, gardening and traveling.
