Getting your annual flu shot is more important than ever. The flu this year has been particularly severe and widespread in our area. In some cases, the flu can lead to life-threatening complications and even death. Although flu season typically starts in October, it often lasts well into May. If you haven’t received your flu vaccine yet getting it now will help protect you through the remainder of the flu season.
Getting a flu shot does more than just protect you, it also helps protect those around you. Vaccination is especially important for protecting those at high risk for serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant women, adults 65 years and older, and anyone with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease.
Remember, it just takes a few minutes to receive protection from this potentially deadly disease. If you haven’t already, be sure to schedule your flu shot today!
Flu vaccines are available at all Reliant primary care offices. If you have an upcoming appointment, you can get your flu shot then. You can also schedule an appointment for a flu shot by contacting your primary care provider’s office or scheduling directly in MyChart.
