How We Remind Patients about Appointments
We know our patients have busy lives. That’s why we try to help patients keep track of upcoming medical appointments by alerting them two days before the appointment.
There are three ways to receive appointment reminders:
Text Message Appointment Reminders
If we have a mobile number on file for a patient, a text appointment reminder will be sent. For the sake of privacy, only minimal information is included in the text – date, time and place of appointment.
Text appointment reminders are available in English and Spanish, with more languages being added in the future.
Phone Call Appointment Reminders
If we do not have a mobile number on file, or if patients have opted out of text messages, patients will receive voice reminders to the primary phone number on file with us.
Phone call appointment reminders are currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
MyChart Appointment Reminders
Patients with a MyChart account will receive an email with a link to a MyChart message appointment reminder.
Patients Have Choices
Our patients can choose how Reliant communicates with them. Choosing and changing communications preferences is easy! Patients can:
- Change communications preferences in MyChart. Once logged in to MyChart:
- Click on “Your Menu” on top left
- Click on “Account Settings”
- Scroll down to “Communication Preferences”
- Make any changes by turning the toggles on or off
- Click “Save changes” and you’re all set!
- Change communication preferences at the check-in desk at your next appointment
- Call your provider’s office

Recent Changes to Text Appointment Reminders
Please note that on June 10th, 2025, we changed to a new text messaging vendor. Patients may have received a welcome message from the number 74681. This is a legitimate text. When we work with a new vendor, we are required to send a message notifying patients of the number the texts will come from.
Frequently Asked Questions About the New Text Message System
Did Reliant send me a legitimate text message about receiving health-related texts?
Yes. On June 10th we began using a new secure vendor to send text messages to remind patients of their upcoming appointments. When we work with a new vendor, we are required to send a message notifying patients of the number the texts will come from.
I’ve never received text messages before, why would I be getting texts now?
- If you received a text, it’s because we have a mobile number on file for you.
- We’ve found texting is the most effective way to ensure people receiving reminders of their important medical appointments.
I’ve been getting automated phone calls for my appointment reminders; will I still get phone calls?
- No, since we have a mobile number on file for you, going forward you will get reminders via text.
- You can always go back to automated calls by changing your communication preferences at any time. Communication preferences can be changed in person at your next visit, by calling your provider’s office to speak with a staff member, or at any time in MyChart:
Once logged in to MyChart:
- Click on “Your Menu” on top left -> Account Settings -> Communication Preferences
- Click on “Appointments” and turn the toggle off for text; turn toggle on for phone
- Click “Save changes” and you’re all set!
Are appointment reminders available in multiple languages?
At this time, texts are available in English and Spanish. Voice reminders are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Vietnamese. We expect more languages to be available in the future.
