Kevin was first introduced to physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy when he attended a preschool/daycare center as a child. “Sometime later, in high school and college, I actually worked at this school and got to know more about how therapists can help those in need,” he explains. “At the same time, a friend of mine in high school was going through a rehab program that was helping him regain his ability to walk. He had a rigorous home exercise program that I would help him with after school. These unique experiences served as an opportunity to expose me to the world of occupational therapy and helped shape my approach later on.”
Kevin enjoys the professional diversity that occupational therapy provides him. “I really like the fact that there is endless room for growth. I started off with a focus on pediatrics but then found I was being pulled towards doing orthopedics,” he explains. “It’s great to know that I am in a career that encourages growth and change.” Kevin is also very knowledgeable about performing hand therapy and can work with patients that have a diagnosis that affects any part of their arm, shoulder, or neck. Throughout his career Kevin has always felt that education is very important when working with his patients. “I feel that the more a patient knows about their particular diagnosis the more power they have to make progress. So education is very important for me.”
When he is not busy helping patients, Kevin likes to spend time with family and friends as well as workout, hike, snowboard, and enjoy his interest in Harry Potter, Star Wars, comics, anime, and movies in general.
